My Mini-Summer at Home

I have been so fortunate to get to meet up with quite a few of my friends at home these last two weeks. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to hang out with me, go out to eat or just talk on the phone. It really means a lot to me!

Here are a few snapshots of my friend Ashley and I.

We took a little tour of Emery on her 4-wheeler...this is definitely one of my favorite things to do whenever we are both back in town!

It's been awhile....

Hello! So, it has been quite some time since I have updated this. I have gone through a couple of changes these last few weeks.

First, my amazing roommate this summer Hanna put on an incredible goodbye party for me and two other girls who are studying abroad this semester. I just wanted to sincerely thank her and everyone else who helped/came to the party. It was one of the happiest moments I have had in the cities and I really really appreciate all of the friends who came!

And to Tanya and Chelsey, good luck this semester!!!

We had a little fun at Legoland in the Mall of America!

The Friday before I left, Greg, Hanna and I dressed up and went to the Walker Sculpture Garden. Greg has an amazing camera and took some really fun pictures for us!
A few days after the party my mom, brother and sister came to pick me up and bring me back home for a little while before I head off.

And finally, my goal is to blog each day until I leave on Tuesday, so hopefully I will. Keep checking back for updates!

La semana pasado

Last week I got to do some really fun things!

First, Hanna and I went to "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2." I love the sisterhood books!

We wore jeans to the movie, of course. :) We also had worn our new shirts (both bought at different times online over a week before) on the same day without even knowing it.

And this weekend I was lucky enough to spend some quality time with this lady!

I hung out at her new, wonderful place on Friday night with a few other SMSU ladies. I loved the girl talk and junk food; two of my favorite things. Then, on Saturday we went to the Irish Festival!
We got to see the band Flogging Molly for free! And, we both decided that men in kilts with facial hair was not a bad sight at all. Actually, it was pretty great.

We also started our own band the "Grrs" (sounds like 'grahrs'). We are going to be big in Europe, I just know it!

El fin de mis clases!

The reason I have not blogged lately is because this week was finals week for me. But....

Today was the last day of summer classes! :)

I am done! Time to start some fun summer activities. Actually, it is time to start packing up. I am heading home at the end of next week for about two weeks. Then, I will be off to London!

1 year later

I very distinctly remember what I was doing at this time one year ago. I was in my room at home, in SD. I remember just being exhausted after a days work, spread out onto my bed wherever my limbs landed. I had turned on my tv and was flipping through the channels when my mom and dad yelled "Janae! Get down here!" They had CNN on, where the images of mass destruction of a bridge incredibly close to my college were being shown. The 35W Bridge had collapsed during rush hour at 6:05pm.

1 year ago today the 35W Bridge collapsed, tragically ending 13 people's lives.

This post is dedicated to the people who were involved, their families, and the state of Minnesota.

I am planning on taking pictures of the bridge one year later very soon. It is amazing to have seen it during the building process.
